Locating this rare bark can be tricky if you do not know where to look beneath the surface.

Locating the Ancient Sussur Tree

To acquire this essential crafting material, players must journey down into the Underdark region. The glowing tree is situated on the far western side of the Underdark map, just west of the Myconid Colony. As you approach the location, you will notice a massive tree surrounded by an ominous blue glow.

Navigating the terrain around the massive flora requires careful maneuvering across its ancient root system. You must climb up the large thick roots on the southern side of the tree to reach the main trunk. Keep a close eye on your mini-map, as a quest waypoint will mark the exact point where the bark can be harvested.

Surviving Hazards and Enemies

Reaching the bark is not without danger, as dangerous creatures guard the surrounding branches. Hooked Horrors patrol the immediate area and can leap across large distances to surprise unprepared parties. It is best to eliminate these monstrous threats before attempting to scale the narrow roots.

Additionally, the surrounding area contains vibrant anti-magic flowers that emit a field suppressing spellcasting abilities. Martial characters are often best suited for leading the path up the branches to clear out hostile targets. Maintaining full health before stepping onto the tree ensures your party survives any sudden ambushes.

Harvesting and Utilizing the Bark

Once you reach the designated spot on the south side of the trunk, interact directly with the tree to harvest the bark. Move your cursor carefully across the bark layer until the interaction prompt appears clearly on screen. Store the item safely in your inventory so it can be brought back to the surface forge.

With the rare bark secured, return to the blacksmith forge in the Blighted Village to complete your weapon. Stoking the furnace with the bark infuses the flames, allowing you to combine it with a plain weapon to forge a silence-inducing masterwork piece.
